Licences issued as code 14 are now called code EC. According to gov.za, code EC is “Code EC: This is for an articulated heavy motor vehicle (heavy motor vehicle drawing a trailer[s]) with a gross combination mass exceeding 16 000 kg”
If you drive a code EC vehicle for an income you also need a professional driving permit (PrDP), renewed on a two year cycle.
